Why does LCWSD6 flush our water lines?
We flush to ensure the water quality is consistent throughout our system. As we are a seasonal system for most residents, we want to avoid stagnant water and build up in our water lines. We give our customers at least 48 hours notice by email and it is posted. After flushing, we recommend you flush an outside source of cold water for 5-15 minutes depending on the distance to your meter.
When should I flush my hot water heater?
Manufacturers vary; however, most hot water heaters need to be flushed at least annually, some every six months, and some require it to be flushed monthly. Most manufacturers recommend flushing your hot water heater at least once per year.
Is my water tested?
Yes. Daily, monthly and annually. Every year the Department of Health requires us to provide our customers with a Consumer Confidence Report which contains our annual test results and other helpful information. You receive this report with your May monthly invoices.
